Our Team
Hi I’m Kate & I’m the owner & Founder of Roar.
I am a yoga teacher & holistic health advocate. I found wellbeing around 15 years ago after developing an autoimmune disease which was triggered by chronic stress.
I delved head first into the rabbit warren of mind-boggling information & life-changing lifestyle changes of the health & wellness world. In doing so, I found my purpose & I knew that I had to create a way for other people to learn these fundamental things for a happy & healthy life in a practical & accessible way. Becoming a yoga teacher was just a part of the puzzle, but a very important one.
The underlying theme throughout my personal yoga practise & my classes, is in creating deep internal awareness, a balance in the nervous system & confidence, steadiness & freedom in the body & mind.
Vinyasa yoga teacher, meditation teacher, massage therapist, spirituality enthusiast.
I’m originally from Poland. I studied accountancy at UoN but left the corporate world to share my love of yoga and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
I love making people feel good in their bodies, either through a massage or a strong yoga practice, where I like to show my students the strength and resilience they have built.
I strive for a slow and mindful life with plenty of time to enjoy what I love. When I’m not working I love to travel, spend time in nature with my dog or read a self-development book while sipping green tea.
Hi, I am Ashish. I am a Yoga teacher from India, now teaching in Nottingham since I moved here last year.
Yoga for me is to connect to nature & to treat & see everyone equally. Over the years of my practice I have witnessed myself become stronger mentally. The teachings of Yoga have helped me to deal with life’s challenges with a calm & balanced mind through becoming flexible and adaptable mentally & physically.
I have been teaching yoga for the last seven years & I have over 5000 hours of teaching experience. I specialise in teaching Hatha Yoga with Movement and Flows, Meditation & Breathwork as well as Indian Philosophy & Mantra. I have taught in Yoga studios, retreats & yoga teacher training courses. In my classes I love to explore how awareness of the body & control of the breath can calm our mind.
I am looking forward to share what I have learnt over the years about Yoga in India in a way that it’s accessible to everyone and relevant to our modern lives, giving you the tools to feel the benefits that Yoga can have on our every day life.
Hi I'm Megan - Yoga Teacher & Yoga Sports Coach.
Since qualifying as a yoga teacher in 2021, my main focus has been around Functional Yoga. I enjoy learning about the anatomical benefits which Yoga has & how this can be beneficial to modern bodies.
I have taught in several different studios around Derby & Nottingham as well privately to teams of Professional Cyclists & Ice Hockey Players in the EIHL. I am also qualified in Restorative Yoga & Mindfulness and Meditation.
When I'm not teaching yoga, I'm a full-time Artist & dog mum to a very energetic spaniel.
Hi I’m Soph 👋🏻
Yoga has been a self love practice for me since I started it as a teenager. After many years of dipping in and out of practicing at home and classes, I felt a real pull towards teaching.
As I trained I realised how much I wanted to share the practice that made me fall back in love with myself and my body. So that’s why I do it. To give people that time away from the hectic world, to connect with themselves and discover all the wonderful, warm fuzzy self love feelings yoga can provide.
Hi I’m Katie.
I’m a Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa instructor. My teaching journey began in Dharamshala in the Himalayas where I discovered the wonders of yoga asanas and philosophy for mental and physical well-being.
As well as a yoga instructor, I’m also a practicing artist. I find inspiration in the details of our amazing bodies, celebrating what they can do. Body positivity is a key element in my life, as an artist and in yoga.
One of my creative outlets is crafting new yoga classes. I look forward to welcoming you onto the mat and finding our strength together in a meditative flow.
Hi, I’m Alice - literacy consultant by day and a passionate yoga teacher by night.
I began my Yoga practice with my mum in 2008 at the age of 17 and hot Yoga has been my lifeline ever since. In 2019, I completed my 200hr teacher training with Sun Power Yoga, initially to further explore my own practice, but in 2022 I felt the call to teach.
Since then I have developed a love for teaching fun and challenging classes, inviting the inner child to move playfully without expectation. I'm passionate about making each class a ceremony, with intention and integration at it’s heart.
For the past three years I have been alcohol free and have actively sought to replace it with an addiction to wellness courses and self-development. I have also become a qualified hypnotherapist and shamanic practitioner, passionate about all things Jung, storytelling, and metaphor, integrating a lot of these wonderful transferable skills into my classes.
This year I completed 100hrs in Mandala and Shamanism with Dulce Mandala and The Yoga People, and have become inspired to teach this methodology at Roar.
When I'm not at yoga you can usually find me in a lake or sauna. Yoga for me is a way of life, rooting me to the ground. I am eternally grateful that I get to share it with others.
Hey, I’m Izzy. I offer trauma-informed and therapeutic yoga, somatics, and mindfulness, with a focus on supporting mental health and body confidence.
How did I get here?
After battling with many severe mental and physical health issues, that all reached critical points very quickly in my early 20’s to mid 20’s, the trajectory of my life completely changed.
The discovery and exploration of mindfulness, yoga, and somatics supported my recoveries in ways that are beyond words. I became a gal on a mission and dreamed of creating spaces where no-one would have to feel alone in their struggles. I wanted to share the deeply healing practices that had supported me in my various recoveries, and to offer the support and healing spaces that I wish had been more available.
I am now dedicated to creating safe, brave, and compassionate spaces for people to remember that they are enough, to heal their relationship with their bodies, and make friends with their mind.
I love weaving together the ancient wisdom and philosophy of yoga with contemporary science, to offer truly holistic and therapeutic support for stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and body image.
Hi, I’m Chloe!
Yoga has been part of my life since I was young, thanks to my incredible mother, who is also a yoga teacher. During lockdown, I turned to yoga as a way to reconnect with myself. It became a powerful tool to help me get in touch with myself, body & all its potential.
I qualified as a Hatha Raja Vinyasa Krama Yoga Teacher in 2022 & in 2023 as a Rocket Yoga Teacher. My teaching approach is grounded in a strong understanding of anatomy, alignment, & progressive sequencing, enabling me to guide students in unlocking their potential while fostering greater body awareness.
I strive to create inclusive and accessible classes that provide students with the fundamentals needed to grow and develop their practice. My goal is to inspire others, encourage self-exploration, & support individuals on their yoga journeys.
Nice to meet you, I'm Kirby! I love to learn and share, so you'll find me offering a really diverse range of different specialisms! I'm an Aerial yogi and Pilates practitioner at heart, but my offerings also move through Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Nidra and Qi Gong. I'm also a massage therapist as I think it's important to understand the body from different perspectives, incorporating energy work in healing.
Having a spinal injury when I was 23, it felt like my future was over. After living in pain for a few years, I eventually found yoga and my process of healing and strengthening began, but it wasn't just my body that felt better, it was my whole self. I took my 200hr YTT purely to explore and understand my practice, and we all shared a common story of finding something that supported us in healing; physically, mentally or emotionally. I was working in the NHS at the time supporting chronic condition patients to develop self-management tools, so I was able to bring yoga into my work, in particular for workshops working on resilience or people in pain. I'd never planned to teach yoga, but after leaving my NHS role, that's what naturally came next. I'm also a training Psychotherapist and trauma-sensitive teacher, wanting to offer you a space to meet yourself where you are in that given moment. I've since completed my 500hr and many more, wanting to deepen my skill set but also my honouring of the gift that I found and as a teacher trainer, being able to pass that along to others.
Hi, I’m Gemma!
I have danced for many years now and developed a deep awareness for the importance of movement on the body and mind, and so at 21 I decided to take up regular yoga classes too. Not only did I fall in love with the practice but I found myself wanting to share what I learned with others. This year I embarked on my own teaching journey, taking myself to the very heart and soul of yoga in Rishikesh to learn from the very best and qualified with a 200hr teaching certification.
Yoga is not just about union of the body, breath and mind to me but also the union of people that share this practice together. By focusing on hatha, dynamic flows and breath-work, I will not only challenge you but encourage you too, bringing some balance to your day both mentally and physically. I strive to focus on resilience, flexibility and playfulness, bringing out each individual’s strengths and joy.
I invite you to come to my classes to test yourself, meet like-minded souls and create a safe space in your body, where your awareness allows your mind to be at rest.
Hi, I’m Valeria!
I found yoga in my late teens. The feeling of calm and relaxation made my body and mind feel connected in a way I had never experienced before.
Over the years I have practised and learned the principles of the ashtanga yoga method and I love sharing the foundational aspects of the sequence, making it accessible for anyone. In my classes I focus on the healing power of the breath, while guiding the students to find a way to develop a practice which is sustainable for their own body. I also balance the dynamicity of ashtanga vinyasa with a good dose of yin yoga!
Since September 2022 I’ve been sharing the power of transformation that comes from within the practitioner through dedication, discipline, determination and positive attitude.
When I’m not on my mat, I enjoy going for long walks either in the Peak District or on the white sandy beaches of my homeland Sardinia or cuddling my cat Hurley.
I have been practicing yoga regularly for around 8 years, very early on I learnt the importance of having a daily sadhana (spiritual practice).
Yoga has taught me both discipline and softness, both of which I needed, It’s encouraged a more compassionate approach to myself and to life. Learning about the nervous system and having more awareness of my breath has been huge and this continues to support me daily as life takes its twists and turns.
Yogic philosophy was one of the things that drew me in and still continues to fascinate me. I am currently coming to the end of a 2 year teacher training with Vajrasati Brighton.
The training looks at yogas history as well as different eastern philosophies like Buddhism, Tantra and Samkhya. It delves into yoga from its many practices and lineages throughout time and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a student. Within the course we practice asana, pranayama, mantra and meditation and I feel its been a great follow on from my first TT which was a modified ashtanga system. Both studying Patanjali’s Yoga sutras for insight and contemplation.
The classes I teach are inclusive to all. I teach a mixture of vinyasa and static postures weaving in pranayama (breathing techniques) with movement and meditation. I often encourage using props as they can be of great support and also a gateway to experience.
Asana (postures) are lead through a window of embodiment and play (Lila).
My classes help encourage people to get into their bodies and find their relationship between movement, engagement and rest, with the support of philosophical teachings for self enquiry and observation.
I’m from Nottingham and have just moved back after many years moving around and it feels really good.
